Pausing a member's billing and access for a set period without cancelling the account.
A freeze keeps a member on the books when they travel, get injured or take a break, instead of losing them to a full cancellation. Billing stops or drops to a nominal hold fee, and access pauses until they return. Making freezes easy is a retention tool: a member who can pause is far more likely to come back than one forced to quit and re-join.
